SoluFlex
HA
Why
Hyaluronic Acid? Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is the gold standard
for joint care and, although it really does work, it can be very
expensive. SoluFlex HA is an affordable solution to this problem.
Hyaluronic
Acid is a glycosaminoglycan with anti-inflammatory properties
whose function is to cushion and lubricate. It plays a crucial
role in maintaining and regulating moisture in tissues and is
a key factor in the movement of nutrients into cells and disposal
of metabolic waste. Optimum levels of Hyaluronic Acid are of paramount
importance for joints and cartilage health. Hyaluronic Acid also
reinforces the immune system by acting as an antioxidant, holding
water in the body, and lubricating heart valves. Aside from being
a lubricant in joints, Hyaluronic Acid is a special mucopolysaccharide
that affects the way the body responds to injury. Poor lubrication
due to low Hyaluronic Acid levels is the leading cause of discomfort
in joints. When present in a joint, even a joint with little or
no cartilage, Hyaluronic Acid can provide a buffer effect.
Why A Solution?
Hyaluronic Acid works best when given as a solution or liquid
rather than as a dry powder. It takes roughly twelve hours to
dissolve and go into solution, and dissolves best in cold water.
Hyaluronic Acid in dry form may not dissolve quickly enough to
be completely absorbed once in the GI tract. If given in solution
or liquid form, the process is started and the Hyaluronic Acid
is far more readily absorbed.
Is Hyaluronic
Acid Absorbed? It has been argued that Hyaluronic Acid is
such a large molecule that it cannot be absorbed. In fact, while
it is a big molecule, it is so compatible with all the body's
membranes that it is very easily absorbed by any mucus membrane.
It will even be absorbed by skin, which is usually impervious
to water.
Why Make
it Yourself? Cost and Convenience. By providing SoluFlex HA
in a form which you mix yourself, we have reduced the cost by
several factors. We don't have the overhead of mixing the solution,
fewer preservatives are required, and there isn't additional cost
of shipping a heavy liquid. The packets are small, light weight
and easy to ship. Each packet contains a measured amount of Hyaluronic
Acid with enough preservative for roughly 15 days storage at room
temperature. You can make it as you need it and be sure it isn't
losing potency sitting on your feed room shelf.
How is
SoluFlex HA Made? SoluFlex HA will arrive in a 225ml containing
6.1g of powder. Add distilled water according to the instructions
provided on the label, then refrigerate for 12-24 hours and shake
at intervals for the solution to mix properly. Once in solution,
the product has a shelf life of 15 days.
What is
the Best Dosage? In general, we recommend 15ml -30ml of SoluFlex
HA per day for a horse, which yields 100mg-200mg of Hyaluronic
Acid. Each packet makes 225ml once in solution.
