Muscle Mix™

  • Description:

A mixture of essential amino acids designed to help develop muscles and achieve greater power. Supports normal recovery time after strenuous activity. Provides antioxidants.

Muscle Mix™ contains a combination of important amino acids that will help retain muscle strength and stop the loss of active muscle tissue when given to horses that are in heavy work.

Acetyl-L-Carnitine has been implicated in growth of neurons and in the release of dopamine from nerve ends. It may also assist with binding of dopamine to its receptors, thus enhancing neuron activity. Acetyl-L-Carnitine has a secondary effect of boosting mitochondrial energy metabolism through its ability to facilitate fatty acid transport and oxidation in the cell.

Acetyl-L-Cystiene is the acetylated from of L-Cysteine, an essential amino-acid which is closely involved in metabolism and protein synthesis. It may reduce blood pressure increase and may assist in regulation of metabolism.

Alpha-Lipoic Acid (ALA) is a disulphide that is considered to be a co-factor in energy producing reactions. It helps with energy production within the mitochondria and is considered to have a neuron sparing or saving effect by supporting the energy metabolism of neurons. ALA is a potent antioxidant.

L-Arginine AKG is an amino-acid involved in Nitric Oxide production and regulation of metabolism. Arginine is a vital part of regeneration of muscle fibers following exertion and may help to reduce oxidative stress in active tissues.

L-Glutamine is one of the most abundant amino acids and participates in many reactions and activities. It is considered a semi-essential amino acid that can be synthesized, but under certain circumstances, the supply cannot meet the demand and then it should be supplied in the diet. This amino acid is known for its effect helping muscle recover from exertion and regain strength.

L-Leucine is a vital amino acid and is one of the Branch Chain Amino Acids (BCAA) involved in muscle recovery from exertion. BCAAs are considered to be involved with maintenance of working muscle fibers in aging animals.

L-Lysine is an essential amino acid that is involved in protein synthesis throughout the body. It has well known activity in muscle repair and recovery. It may also be involved in maintenance of bone integrity.

DL-Methionine is an essential amino acid. It has many vital roles in the body from hair growth, tissue repair and protein synthesis, to production of SAMe, and many other important substances.

L-Ornithine AKG is an amino acid which is involved in the Krebs cycle and is part of Nitric Oxide production. Ornithine has a sparing effect on levels of Arginine as well an effect on mitochondrial metabolism.

L-Threonine is an essential amino acid. This amino acid plays an important role, along with glycine and serine, in porphyrin metabolism. To be used effectively, threonine requires vitamin B6, magnesium, and niacin. Threonine is an important part of many proteins and is necessary for the formation of tooth enamel, elastin and collagen. Elastin and collagin are both needed for healthy skin and wound healing. There are relatively high levels of threonine in the central nervous system. It has been used as a supplement to help alleviate anxiety. The role of threonine in nervous system function is highlighted by increased demand for this amino acid during times of stress.

L-Tryptophan is an essential amino acid that is the precursor for serotonin. It has been shown to help with sleep patterns and mood. Improved sleep helps to regenerate the body and to regain energy.

L-Tyrosine is a semi-essential amino acid considered to have anti-oxidative properties. Tyrosine is needed to make epinephrine, norepinephrine, serotonin, and dopamine, all of which work to regulate mood. Deficiencies in tyrosine, therefore, have been associated with depression in people. Tyrosine aids in the production of melanin (pigment responsible for coat and skin color) and in the function of organs responsible for making and regulating hormones, including the adrenal, thryroid, and pituitary glands. It is also involved in the synthesis of enkephalins, substances that have pain-relieving effects.
